A Solution for Teeth That Are Beyond Whitening

Have you been watching your teeth change colors over the past several decades? Or maybe you woke up one morning and realized that your beautiful white smile was long gone. Sometimes it feels like it happened in an instant!

It’s difficult to feel confident when you don’t feel comfortable showing your teeth when you smile, and you might be feeling like there is no hope for your smile any longer. Before you walk too far down that path of thought, let us ease your worries by saying that it is never too late to have the smile of your dreams.

Whitening isn’t always the answer. In some cases, whitening just won’t cut it. Even in-office bleaching like we offer here in the office can’t cut it. It might improve your smile, but some stains are so deep and so permanent that we cannot remove them. At that point, things really begin to look hopeless, but we still have one more trick up our sleeves!

The Veneer Solution

When your teeth are beyond the help of office whitening (which is rare, but it happens), we have another solution for you: veneers. We offer two types, composite and porcelain, that each have benefits for different patients. You might want your veneers really quickly, or you might prefer to take more time on the front end to ensure that your veneers will last for years to come.

The process is still the same; we will bond thin shells over the fronts of your teeth to create a brand new look. You can select the color you would like for your teeth so that you can have a dramatic or subtle change, whichever you prefer! Let’s take a few moments to look at the pros and cons of both types of veneers so you have a better idea of what you would prefer for your smile.

Composite Veneers

Pros: Composite veneers are a great option if you are looking for a smile improvement right now! These veneers allow us to place your new smile in one single appointment. We can shape and apply your veneers in one day! The material is thinner, which means you won’t need to remove as much enamel from the fronts of your teeth.

Cons: Because composite veneers are not as thick, they are also not as sturdy. They are more likely to chip or crack over time, but even with this negative, they are easy to replace and a great option for patients looking to transform their smiles.

Porcelain Veneers

Pros: Porcelain veneers are a great way to improve the look of your smile in just a few appointments. The material is sturdy, which makes for a long-lasting restoration to your smile. We begin with impressions of your teeth and send those impressions out so that your veneers can be created. We place temporary veneers in the mean time which gives you the opportunity to evaluate the comfort and fit of the veneers you’ll be getting.

Cons: An obvious problem with the porcelain veneers system is that it takes two appointments instead of one. Some patients aren’t able or willing to wait that long for their smile to be improved. Even so, porcelain veneers are going to last a lot longer and be more sturdy than composites, which might make that extra time more worth it to you!

Your teeth are never beyond hope, and we have the solutions right here in the office to ensure that you have a smile that you are completely happy with! Regardless of if your cosmetic damage is from your genetics, an injury, or wear and tear, we can make a difference.
