Let’s face it — nobody wants to spend a great deal of their spare time going to the dentist to fix their dental problems. We understand, and you’re not going to hurt our feeling by admitting that. But, we will tell you that we have new and exciting ways to treat your smile in one visit. Actually in only about 90 minutes.

No More Waiting For Your Smile

One of the oldest restorative treatments used in dentistry is the dental crown. The dental crown is used to protect the tooth after a root canal or to even rebuild a tooth that has been damaged by decay or trauma (chips or fractures). We can even use crowns to restore teeth with heavy stains. You see the versatility of dental crowns. They are lifelike and can last for years, decades even, with great care.

So a few years ago, we asked ourselves why this process wasn’t easier and faster. A typical crown is placed over the course of two visits — sometimes it requires three. The tooth is prepared, and then we take an impression of the tooth. Then you’ll wear a temporary crown while the permanent restoration is being create. To get around this waiting time, we found same-day crowns. Now, we’re using a machine called CEREC to create and place crowns in a single visit.

The Perks of Same-Day Smile Solutions

CEREC gives us a new way to treat our patients while helping them save time on their dental care. This new technology takes the timeframe for placing a dental crown from at least two visits down to about 90 minutes. The reason is because CEREC includes an digital impression technology and an in-house milling station. It’s as if we brought the dental lab to you. So once we have the impression of the tooth, the machine’s software allows creates a 3-D model of the crown. From that image, your crown is sent to the special milling station, which then fabricates the restoration in a manner of minutes. Most of our patients wait comfortably in the chair or play on their iPad while they wait.
So, the CEREC allows us to save you time, but here are a few other benefits:

  • No More Temporary Crowns — Temporary crowns are used as placeholders while your permanent crowns are being fabricated. CEREC eliminates the need for the temporary crown entirely. Temporary crowns are made from acrylic material which isn’t lifelike.
  • All-Ceramic Crowns — All-ceramic crowns are both lifelike and extremely durable. CEREC uses a solid chunk of ceramic material, which makes the crown less likely to chip, crack, or fracture. Crowns like metal-fused-to-porcelain can break or crack, and the metal can show around the gum line.
  • Digital Impressions — We don’t use goopy materials to find the good fit for the crown. People hate having that goopy material in their mouths, and it can trigger their gag reflex. We use a digital impression that’s easier for you and allows us to find the most precise fit.

CEREC can give you the chance to restore your smile in a single visit. You no longer have to take two or three days off of work for a simple crown. Give Newman Springs Dental Care a call today at 732-352-3903 or use the online form to request a visit.
